This workshop introduces the key features of effective academic report writing. We will explore how reports differ from essays, the purpose and audience of different types of reports, and how to organise information using appropriate report structures and sections. We will also look at how to incorporate evidence, reference sources appropriately, and consider the use of Generative AI in report writing.
By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:
- identify the purpose, audience and key features of an academic report
- recognise different types of reports and how they differ from essays
- identify the appropriate structure and sections for a report
- use evidence effectively in report writing
- apply appropriate referencing practices
- understand key considerations when using Generative AI in report writing.
