Library essentials for teaching staff

The La Trobe University Library provides programs, services and customised support contributing to student learning success and academic teaching and research outcomes.

Our Library Learning Services (LLS) team works directly with Subject Coordinators and the La Trobe Education Services team to develop, deliver and evaluate academic skills and information literacy learning resources that are constructively aligned with course/subject intended learning outcomes (mapped to the Graduate Capability of Inquiry and Analysis).

Support we provide

Alongside the services we provide directly to students, our staff work with Subject Coordinators to enhance your content in the Learning Management System (LMS). This includes:

  • collaborating on course and subject design to embed information literacy, academic skills and research capabilities
  • developing and delivering curriculum-aligned Library learning activities, modules and digital content
  • advising on relevant, accessible and discipline-specific readings and learning resources
  • supporting the use of subject reading lists, copyright compliance and Open Educational Resource opportunities
  • providing assessment-focused support, including student-centred review of assessment language and rubrics
  • creating subject-specific help guides and online learning resources for LMS integration
  • connecting students with Librarians, Academic Skills Advisors and Peer Learning Advisors for research, writing, referencing and assessment support
  • delivering or advising on workshops that develop information literacy, academic writing, digital and AI literacy, English language and research skills

Each School has a specific Senior Learning Librarian assigned that is your primary point of contact to the Library. They bring deep understanding of your disciplinary context and can provide expert guidance on capability development, resource integration and student success strategies aligned with Education2030 objectives.
