This workshop explores how to use evidence effectively to support your ideas and strengthen your academic writing. You will learn different ways to incorporate sources through quoting and paraphrasing, how to reference sources appropriately, and how to connect evidence clearly to your claims. The workshop will also introduce the relationship between in-text citations and reference lists and highlight where to find further support.
By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:
- explain the role and importance of evidence in academic writing
- use quotations and paraphrasing to incorporate evidence into your writing
- distinguish between in-text citations and reference lists
- incorporate in-text citations appropriately into your writing
- link evidence clearly and effectively to your claims
- identify where to get further help with using and referencing sources.
