La Trobe eBureau’s 'Becoming a Climate Conscious Lawyer' has won an OEGlobal Award, celebrating its open-access innovation in climate-aware legal education.
The La Trobe eBureau is excited to announce that Becoming a Climate Conscious Lawyer: Climate change and the Australian legal system, an open educational resource (OER) published by La Trobe eBureau and edited by Julia Dehm, Nicole Graham and Zoe Nay, has won an OEGlobal award!
Recognised in the 'How We Share' category, this international award celebrates the project’s innovative, open-access approach to legal education and its commitment to climate awareness. The resource exemplifies how OERs can bring together cross-institutional efforts (15 universities in this project) and empower future legal professionals to engage with climate-conscious practices and principles.
The award reviewer praised the project’s breadth, inclusion of Indigenous content and its living resource approach:
I am very glad to have learned about this outstanding open education project! I am especially excited by the breadth of coverage offered by this resource, in that it represents a wide variety of topics and perspectives, including Indigenous-authored materials. The authors’ commitment to make this a living document that can maintain its currency as the law and the climate change makes it especially valuable. Kudos!
This achievement highlights the transformative power of open education in shaping a more just and sustainable future. Congratulations to all contributors on this outstanding recognition!
