Not feeling well? Please stay home and rest!

A reminder to all students to stay home if you’re feeling unwell. If you have any cold or flu like symptoms, you must immediately self-isolate and get COVID tested.

If you test positive for COVID-19, follow the notification procedure. Even if you test negative to COVID but are still feeling unwell, please stay away from campus at home until you feel well.

Don’t worry, you can still get help with your studies from home! There are a range of services and study options available to you so that you can keep up with your studies while you rest up at home.

Most Student Support Services can support you remotely if you require support while you are unwell.

  • Achieve@Uni is an online hub of resources to support you while you study including time management planners, assessment planners and referencing information.
  • The Library website provides access to ebooks, journal articles and many other resources online, any time through Library Search.
  • Student Advisors are here to help you achieve your goals. The Advising team offers one-on-one tailored support, including transition to uni life, enrolment support, goal setting, developing positive learning behaviours and can connect you to services and resources. Appointments can be booked via the La Trobe Career Hub.

What if I’m sick when I have an assessment or exam?

As a matter of courtesy, you should contact all of your Subject Coordinators via email to let them know you are unwell and to discuss current content and how you can keep up with your studies.

You can find the contact details for your Subject Coordinator through LMS, your Subject Learning Guide or in the La Trobe University Handbook.

If you are experiencing adverse circumstances that will prevent you from submitting a task on time, you can submit an online application for extension.

This application must be made at least three days before the due date and the maximum extension possible is five days. You will need to include relevant supporting documentation with your application. Once you’ve submitted your application it will be forwarded to your subject coordinator for review

For more information, please see the Assessment Procedure – Adjustments to Assessment policy.

Special Consideration

If you are impacted by more serious and acute circumstances and/or require more than a five day extension, you may be eligible for Special Consideration. The circumstance MUST be unforeseeable and you must be able to provide verifiable supporting documentation.

To apply for Special Consideration, visit the Special Consideration website.

For more information, please see the Assessment Procedure – Adjustments to Assessment policy.
