Need academic support? Here’s where to go for help

We all hit bumps along the way in our university journey. That’s why we offer a range of flexible support options to help you succeed at La Trobe – both online and in person.

Whether it’s academic guidance, course planning or navigating unexpected circumstances, help is just a few clicks (or a campus visit) away.

The Library

The Library is your go-to spot to build your study skills and get help with your studies or research – online or on campus.

Our expert team provide support at every campus and online, depending on your needs:

  • Peer Learning Advisors (PLAs) for study tips and assessment help (available via drop-in sessions and online chat)
  • Librarians for referencing and research guidance (available via drop-in sessions, online chat and appointment)
  • Academic Skills Advisors for writing, language, and thesis support (available via appointment)

The Library also runs workshops throughout the semester and has Discipline Hubs for help with maths, science and coding.

Want help any time of the day? Make the most of online resources like Studiosity Plus for 24/7 instant writing feedback and study-related questions, as well as help guides and tools like our assessment planner and Academic Referencing Tool.

Subject and Course Coordinators

If you need help with a subject or your overall study plan, your Subject and Course Coordinators are your key contacts.

Subject Coordinators can assist with questions about subject content, assessments, or anything specific to a unit you’re studying. Course Coordinators can help with broader course-related queries, like choosing electives, understanding course structure, or planning your study path.

You can find their contact details in the University Handbook or via the LMS. It’s best to reach out to them via email following and include details like your student ID and subject code (following the advice in our academic contact FAQ).

ASK La Trobe

ASK La Trobe is your first point of call for questions about student life. Whether it’s managing your course or connecting you with another service, ASK La Trobe is here to help.

They can assist with accepting your offer, enrolment, timetables, student systems, fees and financial support, exams, results, graduations, international student issues, and more.

You can get in touch via face-to-face, Live Chat, online enquiries, or phone. ASK La Trobe also has a range of FAQs available to assist you 24/7.

Assessment Adjustments

Sometimes life throws unexpected challenges your way, and we get it. If something affects your ability to complete an assessment, you can apply for an Assessment Adjustment – including extensions, Special Consideration or exam adjustments.

Submit your request via the Assessment Adjustment StudentOnLine form. If you apply for a Short Extension of Time by 11:59 pm on your assessment due date, you’ll automatically receive a 3-day extension (no documentation required).
