Multidimensional Civic Engagement in Later Life
La Trobe University Albury-Wodonga Campus is thrilled to present visiting Associate Professor Rodrigo Serrat, PhD, from the Department of Cognition, Development and Educational Psychology at the University of Barcelona, Spain.
His research focuses on civic engagement in later life, with particular attention to diversity and inclusion across different contexts, including local and state policymaking, volunteering and political organisations, seniors’ interest groups, and aged care settings.
Lecture: Multidimensional Civic Engagement in Later Life: Features, Experiences, and Policy Implications.

This lecture will highlight the impact of micro-, meso-, and macro-level factors on multidimensional civic engagement among older people. A/Prof Serrat will draw on his role as lead investigator for the four-country European CIVEX study (https://web.ub.edu/en/web/projecte-recerca-civex/) and provide commentary on evidence-based policy responses to civic exclusion in later life.

Technical workshop: From Data to Insight: Using Secondary Ageing Data to Understand Civic Engagement in Later Life.

In this workshop, A/Prof Serrat will present quantitative findings derived from existing large-scale European datasets on healthy ageing and discuss how these data inform key research questions on multidimensional civic engagement in later life.
