If you use Zoom for classes, group work or personal study, there’s an important update you should know about.
To manage storage and reduce privacy and security risks, Zoom cloud recordings older than two years will be permanently deleted.
What’s changing?
- From Monday 1 June 2026, any Zoom cloud recordings that are more than two years old will be deleted.
- Going forward, Zoom recordings will automatically be deleted after two years.
What do you need to do?
If you want to keep any Zoom recordings for longer (for example, for study, research or personal reference), you’ll need to:
- Download the recordings you want to keep, and
- Store them somewhere safe outside of Zoom before 1 June.
If you’re unsure whether you have recordings saved in Zoom, it’s a good idea to check now so you don’t lose anything important.
How to download your recordings
You can find step‑by‑step instructions on how to download and save your Zoom recordings on the Student IT Support Zoom website.
