You may choose to use your elective space to take an industry placement subject over the summer semester. The University can match you to an industry placement (University Sourced placements), or you can find your own placement if you have something in mind (Student Sourced placements).
Why choose an elective Industry Placement subject?
- Apply your academic knowledge in real-world settings
- Develop valuable workplace skills
- Expand your professional network
- Gain credit while boosting your employability

How to apply
Preparation is key, so here’s what you need to know before submitting your Student Sourced or University Sourced application:
- Read Step 1 – Prepare your Application
- Read Step 2 – Submit your Application
- Read Make a Strong First Impression for tips on submitting a strong application
- Complete your pre-placement requirements early to save time and avoid delays
Tip: Enrol in the placement subject first, to ensure you receive further information and reminders.
Important information: If you’re not successfully matched to a University Sourced placement, you still have options. You can source your own opportunity and submit a Student Sourced application before the closing date on 31 October.
If you don’t apply by the deadline, you will be required to withdraw from the placement subject before Census date.
