Improved assessment Short Extension process – find out what’s new!

Great news! Your subjects just got a glow-up!

We’ve listened to your feedback and streamlined the assessment Short Extension process. Now you request a Short Extension in the same place you submit your assessment. How easy is that?

Starting 28 July, to request an automatic 3 calendar day extension, you do this directly within the LMS.  This replaces the previous StudentOnLine form.

This update’s here to make things smoother, faster and better! Read on to find out what you need to know.

How it works:

  • Each subject’s LMS page will show which assessments are eligible for a Short Extension via a table.
  • If the assessment is eligible for a Short Extension, you’ll see a group self-selection option to request your extension. Your subject coordinator will ensure this option is available at least one week prior to the due date.
  • If not eligible for an extension, you may be able to apply for Special Consideration instead. Visit the Assessment Adjustments webpage for more information.
  • The deadline to apply for a Short Extension is 11.59 pm on the original due date of the assessment.
  • Students with a Learning Access Plan (LAP) should email their subject coordinator directly to arrange extensions and don’t need to submit a request via LMS.

Things to remember:

  • Approved requests for eligible assessment tasks submitted via the previous StudentOnLine form will be honoured. Please note it may take some time for your previously approved eligible extension to reflect in LMS. They will be updated as the original due date of each assessment approaches.
  • The StudentOnLine form will continue to be used for other Assessment Adjustments (e.g. Special Consideration or Replacement Examination Dates).
  • Not all assessments are eligible for Short Extensions – review the subject LMS for details.
