Nominate for awards
Each year, we recognise alumni creating change in their communities, professions and the world around them.
Our Distinguished Alumni Awards and Young Achiever Awards recognise exceptional alumni who’ve made a lasting impact – whether they’re leaders in their field, champions of community, or advocates for equity, inclusion and innovation.

Award categories and selection process
Celebrates La Trobe alumni who’ve achieved outstanding success over time – in their career, community or through personal impact.
Nominees must demonstrate excellence across four areas:
- Professional achievements
Recognised leader in their field with sustained success and innovation.
- Community service
Strong contributions to the community through time, leadership or volunteering.
- Inspirational leadership
A mentor, advocate, or changemaker – especially in inclusion, equity and philanthropy.
- Personal qualities
A source of inspiration, having led with courage or triumphed over challenges.
For outstanding La Trobe alumni aged 35 and under, making waves early in their career.
Nominees must shine across the same four areas as above – with an emphasis on their early and rapid impact in their field or community.
In exceptional circumstances, the Selection Committee will consider nominations for a Chancellor’s Award. This award will be considered when the traditional Distinguished Alumni Award and Young Achiever Award categories are not suitable, for example a group of alumni.
- Anyone can nominate a La Trobe graduate – including students, staff, alumni and community members.
- Self‑nominations are not accepted.
- Nominees must be alumni of La Trobe University.
All nominations are reviewed by our Alumni Awards Selection Committee, chaired by a senior leader at La Trobe. The committee ranks nominations against the criteria and recommends recipients for University Council endorsement.
Once endorsed, we notify the award recipients and their nominators directly.
- A résumé or LinkedIn profile is required as part of the nomination.
- All nomination details remain confidential and are used only for the purposes of the awards process.
- The award process must remain confidential from the nominees until a decision has been made by the Awards Selection Committee.
- Incomplete nominations will not be accepted.
