Against the backdrop of the Home of the Matildas, inspiration was plenty as our Australia Awardee students gathered for a lively afternoon of Australian Rules Football at the La Trobe University sporting grounds.
Led by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australia Awards scholarships support selected students from developing countries access higher education in Australia.
Amid diverse cultures, this opportunity presented more than a game, it was an event that embodied unity and equality. The Australia Awardees brought global women’s strength and teamwork to the forefront as they battled it out on the field in this friendly competition.
The game highlighted women’s progress in sports and academia and reflected how education empowers women.
