Art Therapy and Clinical Psychology Group Therapy Program

La Trobe University undergraduate students are invited to participate in an Art Therapy and Clinical Psychology Group Therapy Program, at our Melbourne (Bundoora) Campus.

These sessions will run in an open space on Fridays from 7 July – 25 August, 9 am – 12 pm. These sessions are free to attend.

The group will be guided by Dr Daniel Siegel on ways to promote the integration of the nervous system to facilitate a state of wellness. An open studio approach to art therapy will be used and the participants will be invited to engage in using art materials of their choice to engage in art making.

The objective of this will be to engage in creativity without any element of perfecting art making. The participants will be guided to recognise any thoughts, emotions and feelings related to art without any expectation to talk about them.

Simple body-based exercises such as breathing and posture will be discussed as ways to facilitate a sense of calm and wellbeing.

To attend these sessions, you must:

  • be aged between 18-30
  • currently enrolled La Trobe undergraduate student (excluding Bachelor of Psychological Sciences and Master of Art Therapy degrees)
  • are managing academic life without ongoing psychological treatment
  • have no history of psychosis
  • are willing to commit to an eight-week program

If you’d like to register or to learn more about these sessions, please email psychclinic@latrobe.edu.au or submit a Group Programs enquiry form.
