Apply for the Amgen Scholars Program and you could join a world-class research group

The Amgen Scholars Program is a unique opportunity for undergrad students to join a world-class research group for a fully funded, seven-week research experience.

The University of Melbourne together with the Amgen Foundation invites applications for the Amgen Scholars Program 2026 for undergraduate students entering their third year of study in 2026.

The 2026 program will invite 10 high achieving undergraduate students from eligible countries to work in a research lab for 7 weeks (January and February 2026).

If successful, you will stay at one of the University’s historic residential colleges, which will provide accommodation and all meals. Travel costs plus a $450 weekly stipend are also included in the scholarship.

In addition to the research experience, scholars will attend a seminar series, tour elite research facilities, and participate in social and cultural activities in Melbourne.

You will also get the opportunity to travel to Asia and join scholars from the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, National University of Singapore and Tsinghua University for the Amgen Scholars Program Asia Symposium in August.

Check out the website for more information about the Amgen Scholars Program, eligibility criteria and how to apply, or see the list of participating research labs.

Research areas include bone cell biology, biotechnology, neuroscience, material science, enzyme technology, genomics and more!

Applications for the Amgen Scholars Program close on Sunday 31 August, so get your application in quick!
