Applications for 2024 access scholarships and bursaries are now open

At La Trobe, our access scholarships and bursaries support coursework students from all backgrounds to reach their potential at university.

La Trobe scholarships are worth up to $5000 per year, and bursaries are normally valued $1000.

In 2024, scholarship and bursary offerings will be available for:

  • Indigenous students
  • Students who have experienced time in care
  • Students with disabilities
  • Students experiencing financial disadvantage and difficult circumstances
  • Disadvantaged/underrepresented students undertaking Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) courses and other specific courses or disciplines
  • Disadvantaged students living in the city of Hume
  • Students studying at our regional campuses

Merit-based scholarships are also available to recognise academic achievement. These are automatically assessed based on your results and do not require an application.

How to apply

All new and current La Trobe students are welcome to apply for scholarships through VTAC. You do not have to be applying for a course to submit a scholarship application.

Even if you’re not sure if you’re eligible for an access scholarship or bursary, apply anyway! Don’t miss out on financial support that may be available to you.

To make applying easy, you only need to submit one application.

If your application is successful, our team will match you to the scholarship or bursary that best fits your circumstances based on your eligibility.

VTAC accounts are only valid for the current application year and so accounts from previous years will no longer be active. You will need to create a new VTAC account from the homepage and re-enter any relevant study claims (and associated student numbers).

There is no charge to create a new VTAC account to apply for scholarships in 2024.

Watch the VTAC demonstration of the scholarships application to understand what you will need to do before you apply.

To ensure your application has the best chance of success, make sure that you attach any relevant supporting documentation or evidence in the sections that ask for it. You can refer to the guide on supporting documentation for more information, or contact us at scholarships@latrobe.edu.au.

So, what are you waiting for? Submit your application for a La Trobe access scholarship and let us support you to achieve your goals.

Applications close Friday 6 October 2023 at 5pm.
