The 2026 National Student Safety Survey opens across Australian universities on Monday 7 September and you may receive an email invitation to participate.
Your voice matters. If you choose to participate, your experiences and perspectives can help inform positive change and contribute to safer campuses for current and future students across Australia and at home.
La Trobe students are welcome to complete the survey, irrespective of whether they have experienced sexual violence or harm. Participation is voluntary and completely confidential. Your individual responses will not be shared with the University.

Safety at La Trobe
Creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for every student is fundamental to our mission as a university. While important progress has been made across the sector, including at La Trobe, we know there is more work to do.
By completing the survey, you can help us better understand the prevalence of sexual harm, perceptions of safety on campus, and how we can increase awareness about seeking help and reporting sexual violence and harm.
Support services
We know discussing sexual violence and harm can be very distressing for some people. We have free and confidential support services that can help.
In an emergency, call triple zero and then campus security on (03) 9479 2222.
- Contact Wellbeing Services by completing the online self-referral form or calling (03) 9479 2956 during business hours.
- Specialist counselling and support for gender-based violence, sexual violence and sexual harm, including referrals to specialist services is also available. Find out more on our website.
- For concerns about gender-based violence, sexual violence, harassment, bullying or abuse, contact Safer Community for advice, support and referrals.
- If you need urgent support outside business hours, call 1300 146 307 or 0488 884 100. This service operates weekdays from 5pm to 9am, and 24/7 on weekends and public holidays.
The National Student Safety Survey Counselling Line on 1800 572 224 is a 24/7 free and confidential support service with trained counsellors who specialise in sexual, domestic and family violence support.
