Subject outline
This subject is designed to establish a knowledge and skill base for pre-service teachers in the areas of curriculum, pedagogy, planning, assessment and reporting in Design and Technologies for secondary students in the junior and middle years of secondary schooling (Years 7-10) as detailed in the Victorian Curriculum F-10 curriculum documentation. The subject is also designed to develop students understanding of contemporary theory, concepts and skills in Design and Technologies as applied in the classroom context with a particular focus on developing the four general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities. Theoretical concepts, pedagogical principles and state and national curriculum structures within Design and Technologies are examined and applied in the evaluation, design and implementation of learning resources that are responsive to the needs of diverse learners.

Prerequisites Students must be enrolled in either of the following courses in order to undertake this subject: Masters of Teaching Secondary (EMTCS, EMTCSB, EMTCSW) or Bachelor of Technology Education (EBTE, EBTEB), Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Arts Education (AZAAE), Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Science Education (SZSSE), Bachelor of Arts/Master of Teaching (AZATS), Bachelor of Science & Masters of Teaching Secondary (SZSTS)
