Subject outline

This subject is the first of two parts taken in successive semesters that together constitute the 30 credit point subject EDU4REI or EDU4RE2. In this capstone subject pre-service teachers apply the principles and practices of teaching and learning to independently plan and execute teaching units. The subject integrates theory and practice through reflection, observation, inquiry and adaptation to a range of school contexts. The assessment tasks include the scaffolded development of a literature review with a focus on literacy and numeracy development.

Learning ActivitiesFamiliarisation with the GTPA and its five practices. Locating relevant literature about literacy and numeracy across the curriculum. Analysing academic papers to identify study design, method, data, findings and implications for practice.         Analysis Table - To analyse teaching practice through synthesizing evidence of theory, literature, curriculum and pedagogy that supports your approach to teaching.  Analysing and synthesizing research findings. Creating an article matrix. Creating a coherent and cohesive argument.  Writing a literature review. Effectively using APA6 conventions in researching, writing and acknowledging credible sources of information to inform practice
