Announcing round two of the Student Experience Grants

Are you a current La Trobe student and passionate about university life with a great idea on how to improve or innovate the student experience?

We’re excited to announce that round two of the Student Experience Grants is now open for applications, where you could receive between $500 to $5,000 to help support a student-led project that improves the student experience at La Trobe University.

To be successful, your application must:

  • outline a targeted and genuine need for students
  • be impactful in your outcomes for students
  • reach many students; and
  • include tangible benefits that contribute to an improved student experience at La Trobe.

Applications open on 19 May 2025 and close on 30 June 2025.

Up to ten applications will be selected for funding, with projects completed by 1 December 2025.

Successful applications will be announced on 28 July 2025 and if successful, you’ll be notified via email and your winning application and idea will be announced publicly to all staff, students and the wider community at La Trobe University.

Key dates:

Applications open: 19 May 2025

Applications close: 30 June 2025

Notification of outcomes: 28 July 2025

Who can apply?

Currently enrolled students at La Trobe University are eligible to apply.

You may apply as an individual, as part of a group, or on behalf of a club or society, provided your project aligns with the eligibility and assessment criteria and is not currently under another funding arrangement (e.g. sponsored by another grant program). Students working in partnership with staff on co-designing a project are encouraged to apply as a group.

Applicants are welcome to submit multiple applications for different projects.

What activities are eligible for the grant?

The grants are funded by the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) and all applications must comply with the Australian Government’s criteria for the use of SSAF. For a full list, visit the SSAF website to learn more.

How do I apply?

1. Seek feedback

We know that grant applications are not everyone’s expertise, so we recommend you discuss and refine your project proposal with the Student Voice and Partnerships team. Not only does this boost your chances, but it’s also a great opportunity to master your grant writing skills.

2. Prepare a budget plan

It’s time to prepare the financials. Ensure you have a detailed budget plan, as you’ll be asked to upload a budget plan and any other supporting documentation with your application.

3. Submit your application

Submit your application via an online application form. Emailed or printed documents will not be accepted.

We look forward to your application and your ideas to innovate the student experience. For more information, please contact studentgrants@latrobe.edu.au or visit the website.
