Here’s an exciting opportunity for La Trobe University students who are passionate about climate change, healthcare and sustainability!
If you’re a future PhD candidate who’s eager to make a real impact on rural health systems while advancing your academic career, the La Trobe Industry Research Scholarship (LTIRS) could be the perfect fit for you.
This prestigious scholarship is designed for future PhD candidates who want to research the impacts of climate change on healthcare delivery in regional Victoria, specifically the Loddon Mallee region.
In collaboration with Bendigo Health and the Violet Vines Marshman Centre for Rural Health Research, La Trobe’s Rural Health School is offering a generous scholarship package to support students as they tackle critical healthcare challenges posed by climate change.
What is the La Trobe Industry Research Scholarship (LTIRS)?
The LTIRS is a unique PhD scholarship aimed at addressing pressing healthcare sustainability issues in Australia’s rural regions. The research project focuses on assessing the risks posed by climate change on healthcare systems in regional areas and co-developing strategies to make these systems more resilient and sustainable. This project will directly impact Bendigo Health and other public health sectors in the Loddon Mallee region of Victoria.
The selected PhD candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, policymakers and researchers, to co-create a comprehensive climate and sustainability strategy. These strategies will help healthcare facilities minimize their environmental impact, enhance operational resilience, and ultimately improve the health outcomes for rural and regional communities.
Scholarship benefits
The LTIRS offers substantial support to ensure you can focus on your research while making a meaningful impact. Here’s what you can expect:
- A $35,000 per annum living allowance for up to three and a half years, providing financial support for your research journey.
- A fee-relief scholarship for up to four years, reducing the financial burden of tuition fees.
- You’ll also receive relocation and publication/thesis allowances, making it easier to move to one of La Trobe’s regional campuses and fund the costs associated with research dissemination.
- Professional Development: As part of the LTIRS, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with La Trobe’s largest rural health school and the Violet Vines Marshman Centre for Rural Health Research, gaining access to a wealth of professional development programs, networking opportunities and mentorship.
