What are the benefits of participating in the La Trobe Leaders’ Program?

Being part of the Leaders’ Program has been an incredible experience for me, and I want to share how it has positively impacted my personal and leadership journey. Here are some of the highlights from my time in the program:

  • Skill development: The Leaders’ Program has provided me with a platform to develop and refine my leadership skills. Through various activities and engagements, I have honed my communication, problem-solving and teamwork abilities. These skills have not only benefited me within the program but have also translated into other areas of my life.
  • Mentoring others: One of the most rewarding aspects of the Leaders’ Program has been the opportunity to serve as a mentor to incoming students. Guiding and supporting them through their transition to campus life has allowed me to make a positive impact and witness their growth firsthand. It has strengthened my interpersonal skills and taught me the importance of empathy and active listening.
  • Campus engagement: Being involved in the program has connected me with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff members. This network has not only expanded my social circle but has also opened doors for collaborations and new opportunities. I feel more connected to the campus community and it has enriched my overall university experience.
  • Personal growth: The Leaders’ Program has been instrumental in my personal growth journey. It has challenged me to step out of my comfort zone, take on leadership roles and embrace new responsibilities. As a result, I have become more self-confident, resilient and adaptable. The program has provided a nurturing environment for me to discover my strengths, work on my weaknesses and continually strive for improvement.
  • Lifelong connections: The relationships I have formed through the program are priceless. I have met fellow participants who share the same passion for leadership and personal growth. These connections have not only enriched my university experience but have also created a support system that extends beyond the program. I believe these friendships will continue to thrive even after we graduate.

What has been your favourite part of the Leaders’ Program so far?

It’s a truly rewarding feeling to know that I have been able to make a difference in someone’s life, even if it’s in a small way. For me, true success in this program is not only about personal growth but also about spreading happiness and sharing it with others.
