Finding Pride

Finding Pride is a 8-week resilience and wellbeing group program for La Trobe students. It is run by LGBTIQA+ people – for LGBTIQA+ people.

Using Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles, this program will support you to:

  • Explore your core values and how they can help to guide you through tough times.
  • Share your experiences in a safe, welcoming and confidential space.
  • Connect with others through common experiences.
  • Learn to face life challenges, including those caused by discrimination.

Secure a place in our 2026 Semester 2 online program, commencing 11 August (Week 5).

To register:

  1. Complete the online form.
  2. When completing the form, select these options: 
    • For “What sort of assistance do you need?” choose “Group Program Registration.”
    • For “Which Group Program are you expressing interest in?” choose “Finding Pride.”
  3. For “Would you like a phone call prior to attending group?” select “Yes” (this call is required).
  4. Use the text box to share your preferred semester or add comments (optional).

Key dates

The Finding Pride program runs once per semester, with students attending seven 90 minute sessions over eight weeks.

Start date: Tuesday 11 August, Week 5
Final session: Tuesday 29 September, Week 11
Time: Tuesday afternoons, 1:30pm – 3pm
Location: Online via Zoom

Note: no session in mid-semester break (1 September)

Who can join?

Finding Pride is for all La Trobe LGBTIQA+ students who are questioning, discovering, or unsure if they belong in LGBTIQA+ communities. All students are welcome, including:

  • International and domestic students
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Full-time and part-time students
  • On-campus and online students
