The University Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Subjects connect academic learning with practical experience. Whether you’re looking to do an industry placement in a professional workplace or prefer to collaborate on an industry project, enrolling for elective WIL Subjects gives students the confidence and skills to thrive in the workplace.
Applications are now open for new elective University Work Integrated Learning (WIL) subjects, starting in Semester 1 2026.
If you’re an undergraduate
You’ll have the opportunity to choose between an Industry Placement or an Industry Project as part of your degree.
Option | What you’ll do |
Industry Placement | Apply your discipline-specific knowledge in a workplace setting, supported by an industry supervisor and with academic support. |
Industry Project | Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to develop solutions for real client challenges, working with a La Trobe industry partner and with academic support. |
Both opportunities will enhance your CV and help you stand out to employers. |
Am I eligible?
You are eligible if:
- you have elective space, and
- you have completed at least 90 credit points

- Student-Sourced Applications close: 13 Feb 2026
Industry Projects
- Project intake closes: 4 February 2026
