As well as the range of support services and social activities available to you at La Trobe, there are community hubs across Melbourne designed for international students from any institution. These spaces provide valuable resources, opportunities to meet others and guidance to help you thrive during your studies.
Study Melbourne Hub
Located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD at 17 Hardware Lane, the Study Melbourne Hub is a vibrant community space for international students run by the Victorian Government.
The Hub offers a range services to support international students, including:
- Dedicated student services team to provide confidential advice and support
- Free professional development programs to boost your employability and network
- Study spaces, free Wi-Fi, tea, coffee and snacks
- An exciting calendar of events to meet and connect with other international students
The staff at the Study Melbourne Hub are experts in international education and can provide help and advice on a range of enquiries such as financial hardship, accommodation, wellbeing and mental health support, employment, legal information and education provider problems.
The Couch
Run by the Salvation Army and the City of Melbourne, The Couch is a welcoming drop-in centre for international students located on Level 1, 69 Bourke Street. The Couch is a safe space that’s open Monday to Thursday from 6.00 pm to 8.30 pm, with everything from free meals to social activities.
If you visit The Couch, you’ll find:
- Free meals
- Support on a range of issues including housing, employment, counselling, student services, legal support and representation
- Chances to meet locals and other international students
