As an international student, there are requirements that you must meet, based on the visa which you hold. These requirements are outlined within the conditions of your visa and enforced via the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Framework.
The information in this email applies to all students who require a Student Visa to study in Australia, including students who do not currently have a Student Visa.
Over the past three years, there has been some flexibility regarding your obligations due to the impact of COVID-19 restrictions. However, from 30 June 2023, all universities within Australia must return to full compliance with (ESOS) Framework.
What this means for you
From 30 June 2023, if you are studying on a student visa you must:
- Be enrolled in a full-time study load (to ensure that you complete your course within your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) timeframe). For more information, read the Underloading – international students FAQ.
- Be in Australia and studying face-to-face, on campus.
- Adhere to the working hours restrictions. For more information, read the International student work rights FAQ.
- Create and submit a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Please note you cannot create a USI until you have arrived in Australia. For more information, read the What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI)? FAQ.
- Comply with all other student visa requirements and conditions.
Further information is outlined in the Student visa requirements from 30 June 2023 FAQ.
