Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health refurbishment works in HHS1

Work to redevelop the facilities in Health Sciences 1 (HHS1) has started. To carry out these works safely there will be changes to how you move about the area.

From Monday 2 June:

  • A section of Car Park 4 will be fenced for site facilities
  • Levels 1 and 2 will not be accessible
  • Level 3 will remain accessible to dentistry staff until Monday 14 July (when they will relocate to the new CTB facilities)
  • HHS2 will remain operational throughout works. Access from the eastern side will need to be via the ramp at level 3.

Why is HHS1 being redeveloped?

We’re upgrading the HHS1 facilities to bring in state-of-the-art technology facilities and create a safe space where you can practice clinical skills before heading out on placements and into your healthcare career. The upgrade of facilities will accommodate increased student enrolments and timetabling flexibility.

The work will include a full refurbishment of levels 1 to 3 of HHS1, including:

  • Midwifery simulation lab (4 beds)
  • 3 Acute care simulation labs (26 beds)
  • 2 Treatment Teaching rooms
  • Multi-purpose teaching space
  • Observation and debriefing room
  • Student space (collaboration spaces and focus rooms)
  • Staff offices (open plan sections, focus rooms, collaboration spaces and meeting rooms).
