Calculating your Weighted Average Mark (WAM)

La Trobe uses a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) calculation instead of a Grade Point Average (GPA).

A WAM is an average mark that takes into account the credit point value of the subjects that you have completed. It is based on the actual mark of all subjects completed in your course at any given time.

To calculate your WAM:

Sum of (final marks x subject credit points) / sum of total credit points studied

Example:

Final markCredit pointsFinal mark x subject credit points
831583 x 15 = 1245
691569 x 15 = 1035
753075 x 30 = 2250
951595 x 15 = 1425
741574 x 15 = 1110
673067 x 30 = 2010
1209075
  1. Sum of (final marks x subject credit points) = 9075
  2. Sum of total credit points studied = 120
  3. WAM calculation = 9075/120
  4. WAM = 75.625 therefore 75.63
