Semester 1 2026 training from Respect at La Trobe 

Create a safe, inclusive and respectful community at La Trobe by completing Training from Respect this Semester 1. This essential online training supports our shared commitment to preventing sexual harm and building a culture of respect for everyone.

Student Leaders: Responding to Disclosures of Gender-based Violence ONLINE 

This 1-hour workshop equips student leaders with the skills to: 

  • Recognise gender-based violence, including sexual harm 
  • Respond supportively and without judgement if someone discloses that they are experiencing harm 
  • Refer someone on to support, including appropriate pathways and processes 

Whilst tailored for students in leadership roles, these sessions are OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS.  

Content Note: This training contains discussion of gender-based violence, including sexual harm and family violence, and may be distressing for some people. 
Participants are advised to make their own assessment on the suitability of this workshop. 

Session timesThis training is offered weeks 2 – 5 of semester and over the mid-semester break.  


Developing Disability Confidence ONLINE 

Disability means different things to different people – and those views shape how we include others, and who we include. In this session, you’ll learn why we think of disability in different ways, discover some of La Trobe’s disability support services, and discover some practical ways to build your disability confidence. 
 
This session is specifically designed for beginners and those new to disability and is open to all: students, staff and placement hosts, with or without disability. 

Session time: Wednesday 18th March 10am – 11am 


Intro to Neurodiversity ONLINE 

Neurodiversity means recognising and valuing the different ways we learn, communicate, and experience the world. In this session you’ll learn more about neurodiversity language, La Trobe’s neurodiversity services and supports, and practical tips for neuroinclusive practice. 

This session is specifically designed for beginners and those new to neurodiversity. The session will be run online via Teams and is open to all: students, staff and placement hosts – neurodiverse, neuro-questioning, or just curious! 

Session time: Wednesday 25th March 10am – 11am 


LGBTIQA+ Ally training BUNDOORA 

This training aims to create a more diverse and inclusive LGBTIQA+ culture at La Trobe by increasing awareness and visibility of the issues facing lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex, queer, questioning and asexual (LGBTIQA+) students and staff. 

LGBTIQA+ Ally training will cover the following: 

  • understanding commonly used terms 
  • experiences of young people from the LGBTIQA+ community 
  • recognising and responding to homophobia 
  • creating an inclusive culture and providing support 
  • valuing and celebrating LGBTIQA+ people and culture 
  • how to be an active bystander if you witness disrespect 

Session timeThursday 2 April 10AM – 3PM
