Men’s health & wellbeing support services at La Trobe

The Men’s Health and Wellbeing Program is a specialist service within Wellbeing Services that supports the diverse needs of La Trobe students.

We recognise the unique needs of men at La Trobe when it comes to maintaining good mental and physical health. Our role is to support you in achieving your goals and getting what you want out of life.

Find it difficult to seek support?

For some men it can be challenging to ask for help. Traditional expectations about being strong, independent, and solving problems alone, can also make it hard. Moreover, when some men do reach out, what is on offer doesn’t quite fit their needs.

The good news is that more men are coming forward and seeking help. They recognise it is a sign of strength not weakness to have these difficult but important conversations.

Support services designed for men

La Trobe’s Men’s Health and Wellbeing Program provides counselling and information with men in mind. Some of the ways we can help men are:

Counselling tailored for men
Men access counselling at our service every day. Support is relaxed, confidential and tailored to each person’s goals. It’s available for anyone wanting to improve their mental health, discuss men’s related issues, or for those who prefer to see a male counsellor.

Men’s health information/workshops
Throughout the year we share updates, research, and practical wellbeing information through student communications and in person on campus too.

Men’s Wellbeing Podcast
Our “Men’s wellbeing conversations” podcast is up and running this semester with information, interviews and topics on what guys are facing today for the men of La Trobe.
