“Lead Today, Shape Tomorrow”
Picture this: seven student leaders, spread across three campuses, all working toward one vision – bringing the first-ever La Trobe Leadership Conference to life.
The stakes? A $10,000 budget, 150 tickets to sell and the chance to shape a legacy event.
Scene 1: Teams at work
- Monty (Bundoora), David (Bendigo) and Dharini (City Campus) are deep into logistics — schedules, room bookings, budgets. They’ve got spreadsheets open and calculators on hand.
- Nat & Vibhi are brainstorming catchy captions, designing posters and planning campus-wide promo campaigns.
- Qifa & Yen are on the phones and emails, confirming speakers, liaising with clubs and securing partnerships.
Each leader has their lane, but together, all efforts come together on September 11.
Scene 2: Carla walks in
Carla, the heartbeat of the La Trobe Leaders Program, enters with a smile: “The Humanitix page is live. Tickets are officially on sale!”
The team cheers – weeks of planning just got real.
Scene 3: Momentum builds
- Qifa: “We have a really special guest from Carlton FC confirmed!”
- Nat: “Our posters are printed and ready to go up across campus.”
- Vibhi: “The reels are ready and the hype squad is on standby to flood socials.”
- Monty: “Our full line-up is locked in – food, drinks, merch, photobooth, all under budget!”
The energy is contagious.
Scene 4: The big update
Alysia, Carla’s manager and the guiding hand, pops her head in: “Team, incredible work. We’ve already sold 30 tickets in the first hour. Only 70 more to hit a full house.”
The room erupts again. Every number sold isn’t just a ticket – it’s a student saying “yes” to leadership, learning and connection.
Curtain call
That’s what it’s like being a Senior Leader at La Trobe – juggling logistics, creativity and collaboration, all for one mission: to give our peers a chance to Lead Today, Shape Tomorrow.
