Goldfields Solar Hubs

Project overview

The Centre for Technology Infusion has collaborated with the Bendigo Sustainability Group to collect and analyse data from over 1000 solar powered homes in rural Victoria. The Goldfields Solar Hub was formed with the aim of maximising the collective efficiency of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation and energy distribution for the benefit of the community as well as utility and distribution companies.

This project has generated statistical and analytical models of energy generation and consumption which will form the basis for a variety of consumer display, grid planning and forecasting applications. Top level energy generation and consumption data from the bi-directional meters installed with the PV panels, as well as daily weather data at the installation locations was gathered. Additional survey data, including participant demographics, energy use, factors involved in choosing PV system and overall feedback, will be collected via questionnaires.
