Direct Admissions Special Consideration

If you are submitting a Direct application to La Trobe University, you can also apply for Special consideration as part of your application.

To qualify for special consideration you must:

If applying for Special consideration, you must complete the Special Access Admission Scheme (SEAS) application form in addition to your course application. Submit your application for Special consideration with relevant supporting documents at the time of your course application.

Eligibility requirements

Category 1: Personal information and location

Indigenous Australian

Applies to applicants who are of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent OR identify as a person of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage and are accepted as such by an Indigenous community.

Non-English Speaking Background

  • applicants were born outside Australia in a non-English speaking country
  • speak a language other than English at home
  • have arrived in Australia on, or after 1 January 2007.

Living or school location

Applies to applicants who have a permanent address in a regional, remote or under-represented area or have undertaken secondary study at a school in a regional or remote area.

To be eligible, you must have resided for the last three years in an area classified as RA2 or higher using the Australian Standard Geographical Classification.

Category 2: Disadvantaged financial background

Applies to applicants whose daily life is affected by financial disadvantage.

Category 3: Disability or medical condition

Applies to applicants prevented from reaching their educational potential because of family or other life circumstances.

Category 4: Difficult circumstances

Applies to applicants prevented from reaching their educational potential because of family or other life circumstances.
