Aspire Early University Study

Are you looking for a flexible way into uni that’s an alternative to the traditional ATAR entry?

The Aspire Early University Study program rewards Year 12 students who’ve done additional studies at La Trobe with an early conditional offer into their dream course.

The Early University Study stream has two options to help get your university goals back on track

Benefits

  • Get credit for the undergraduate subjects you’ve completed at La Trobe (Aspire Advance only).
  • Indigenous students get additional benefits through the RISE program
  • 100% online and free
  • Access to online orientation and dedicated study support

Application dates:

  • Advance: 19 September 2022 - 6 February 2023
  • Prepare: 7 November 2022 - 3 April 2023

The Aspire Early University Studies program is a great option for students who are looking for a flexible way into university, without the intense exam experience.

We know students who do well in university subjects are built for success – that’s why we’re offering ways to demonstrate your capability.

Aspire Prepare

If you’re a Year 11 and/or 12 VCE (including unscored), HSC or IB student, you’ll complete three micro-subjects. If you chose VCAL (Intermediate and/or Senior) or VCE Vocational Major, you’ll complete six micro-subjects.

Aspire Prepare is available to:

  • all current Year 11 and 12 students, including ungraded VCE, HSC, IB and VCAL students.
  • You must be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or Permanent Australian Resident to apply.

If your Year 12 studies do not include an English or literacy subject, we may advise you to undertake more micro-subjects to meet this requirement.

Completing the program in Year 11 can mean starting Year 12 with an early conditional offer in your pocket.

Aspire Advance

This option is available to students undertaking VCE, IB or interstate Year 12 (scored or unscored).

You can take part in Aspire Advance and unlock a uni offer even if you are taking your VCE program unscored.

You’ll receive a La Trobe Entrance Score or Aspire ATAR based on your Aspire Prepare or Aspire Advance subject marks.

The Aspire Early University Study gives you an early conditional offer into most undergraduate programs excluding some courses that have limited places.

We’ll use your Aspire Early University Study subject mark(s) to calculate a La Trobe Entrance Score or Aspire ATAR, and if you also receive an ATAR, we will use whichever result is higher to assess your application.

You’ll also need to meet any other general course requirements for entry such as prerequisites or additional entry criteria and complete the VCE (including unscored students who are not required to sit end-of-year examinations), IB or interstate equivalent or VCAL.

If your subject or subjects are part of a bachelor course that you go on to enrol in, you’ll get credit for the subject(s) once you enrol – saving you HECS and giving you a head start.

Your conditional early offer will allow you to nominate your chosen La Trobe course for matching either your ATAR (if you receive one) or your La Trobe Entrance Score, whichever is higher.

We’ll hold your spot – it’s guaranteed as long as you meet the entry requirements and complete your senior school studies.

Achieve Plus gives you an early conditional offer into most undergraduate programs excluding some courses that have limited places.
