Special consideration and SEAS application for direct entry
If you’re submitting a direct application to La Trobe University, you can also apply for special consideration as part of your application. To qualify you must:
- satisfy the eligibility requirements for the category as outlined below
- meet all course entry requirements
- complete a SEAS form
If you’re applying for special consideration, you must complete the Special Access Admission Scheme (SEAS) application form in addition to your course application. Submit your application for special consideration with relevant supporting documents at the time of your course application.
Read the eligibility requirements for each category you’re considering. Some categories require supporting statements or evidence.
Eligibility requirements
Indigenous Australian
This applies to you if you’re of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent OR identify as a person of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage and are accepted as such by an Indigenous community.
Non-English Speaking Background
This applies to you if you:
- were born outside Australia in a non-English speaking country
- speak a language other than English at home
- have arrived in Australia on, or after 1 January 2009.
Living or school location
This applies to you if you have a permanent address in a regional, remote or under-represented area or have undertaken secondary study at a school in a regional or remote area.
To be eligible, you must have resided for the last three years in an area classified as RA2 or higher using the Australian Statistical Geographic Standard - Remoteness Area (ASGS-RA) (2016).
Category 2: Disadvantage financial background
This applies to you if your daily life is affected by financial disadvantage.
Category 3: Disability or medical condition
This applies to you if you have experienced educational disadvantage due to disability or medical conditions.
Category 4: Difficult circumstances
This applies to you if you have been prevented from reaching your educational potential because of family or other life circumstances.
