Subject outline

In this subject you will be introduced to the role that increasing physical activity and reducing sedentary behaviour plays in the prevention and development of lifestyle-related chronic diseases. At the individual level, you will learn how to apply models of behaviour change to encourage people to overcome barriers to physical activity and to reduce sedentary behaviours. At the community level, you will examine the importance of public policy and community strategies to promote physical activity across the lifespan to different stakeholders.

03. Analyse best-practice models of behaviour change to promote physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviour at the individual level, including addressing barriers to physical activity.
04. Identify and describe core behaviour change principles, motivational interviewing techniques and core communication principles that facilitate behaviour change in physical activity levels and sedentary behaviours
