Subject outline

This subject aims to provide pharmacy students with an understanding of legal, accounting, management, employment issues and other associated aspects relevant to the conduct of and the management of a pharmacy practice within a strategic context. The role of the customer in pharmacy practice including valid consent, privacy, confidentiality and acknowledging customers' rights to make informed decisions about health care will be explored. The principles of negligence and personal indemnity and the value of internet pharmacy services will be applied to pharmacy practice. In addition, this subject is designed to further develop students' critical thinking, writing and creative problem solving skills with a particular focus on management, marketing and human resource practices. This subject is delivered in blended learning mode, where learning activities are a mix of face-to-face and online learning; a pedagogical approach where learning outcomes, online resources, assessment and class activities are aligned with a focus on what the learner is doing.

06. Demonstrate an understanding of working in a multidisciplinary healthcare team that acknowledges the various roles of other healthcare providers in the management of patient care.
