Subject outline

In this subject, students will commence the transition from undergraduate to graduate paramedicine through reflection on and consolidation of knowledge, skills and attributes essential for safe and professional paramedic practice. The subject is divided into two modules; with module, one providing a synthesis and refinement of previously acquired knowledge, including critical and reflective practice techniques, emotional intelligence, and leadership principles. Module two introduces the student to preparation for a graduate year in paramedicine, incorporating curriculum vitae and professional portfolio preparation, and exposure to a range of employment techniques utilised for paramedic recruitment. Students will demonstrate advanced theoretical and technical knowledge by applying critical analyses to complex health problems in the form of mock interviews, clinical panel assessments, and scenario critiques.

02. Demonstrate and discuss an advanced understanding of the theoretical and technical knowledge of graduate paramedic requirements in the areas of accountability, autonomy and advancement of professional clinical practice.
03. Search, critically analyse and evaluate the relationship between leadership, communication and critical thinking skills, and formulate and transmit plans to incorporate these into complex conditions within paramedic practice.
04. Search and develop a range of individualized resources to facilitate recruitment and transition into the paramedic workforce.
05. Accurately synthesise clinical knowledge and decision making with personal and professional attributes to successfully negotiate a range of paramedic-specific performance evaluations.
06. Demonstrate a well-developed judgement and adaptability for a range of complex clinical conditions and formulating and transmitting plans of action.

Ten 10.00 hours placement - off site other recurrence on any day including weekend from week 10 to week 16 and delivered via blended.
