2021
Credit points: 30
Subject outline
This is an elective for students majoring in Crime, Justice and Legal Studies and Bachelor of Criminology students. It is designed to enable students to undertake self-sourced placements with an organisation of their choice; undertake an internship through an affiliated workplace program; or complete an international placement. During placement, under the guidance of the subject coordinator and workplace supervisor, students design and complete a project of value to the workplace. The projects demonstrate each student's competence in the skills and knowledge they have developed through the CJLS major or Criminology Degree. Prior to placement, students attend workshops to support seeking and completing a placement successfully, both for academic credit and future employability. Placement hours may range from 120-250 hours. On completion, students will have successfully developed their job seeking skills and professional conduct. Students exercise skills in ongoing, self-developmental workplace practice through reflective learning.
