What is 'good' English? What makes someone a powerful speaker or writer? This subject is an introduction to English grammar from a linguistic perspective . Students learn about elements of English grammar and their social significance . The subject questions common assumptions about grammar and incorporates discussion of sociolinguistic issues including World Englishes. The subject involves reconceptualising notions of 'good' and 'bad' usage alongside the practical application of analytical skills.
