Subject outline
This 30CP subject has been developed to allow students from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUSS) to engage in substantial extended project-based learning with external partners in order to research and address a specific brief or problem. Working in conjunction with the external partner, and an academic advisor, students address this project or problem in an off-campus setting, before proposing or pitching a product, design, event, or solution as appropriate. Due to the 30cp the subject carries, this is expected to represent a substantial collaboration delivering a piece of work of some scale or impact. Such project- and problem-based learning requires students to develop and apply a range of skills including planning, research, critical thinking, creative problem solving, collaboration, and a range of forms of communication. Moreover, it provides the students with a degree of control and autonomy# enabling them to take ownership of their problems and projects, and the solutions and products they develop.
