Subject outline

In this subject, pre-service teachers will develop an understanding of how a child with autism may see and experience the world, particularly in early learning and school contexts. They will research issues that surround inclusive education particularly as they relate to communication, social skills and coping behaviours. PST's will also investigate how a child with autism may develop expressive and receptive language skills and how schools and students can use alternative technologies and augmentative communication systems to support communication skills.
