Subject outline

This subject provides a practical and theoretical study in Health and Physical Education curriculum development and teaching. Online materials and face-to-face workshops focus on the design and implementation of Health and Physical Education curriculum, teaching and learning activities, including assessment and feedback strategies. Students will be given the opportunity to practice curriculum/lesson development and teaching skills as well as evaluating teaching resources relevant to Health and Physical Education for primary aged children.

Prerequisites Students must be enrolled in one of the following courses in order to undertake this subject: Bachelor of Education Primary (EBEDP, EBEDPB, EBEDPM) or Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) (EBTP) or Bachelor of Education (EVEDB, RBEDM) or Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education (EBECB, EBECP and should have completed 180 credit points in their course Or Subject or Course Coordinator approval

01. Plan learning sequences that are consistent with the Victorian/Australian Curricula and policies, including relevant assessment and feedback practices
02. Develop knowledge of the purpose, aims, content, processes and skills of the Health and Physical learning area relevant to primary aged children.
03. Develop knowledge of appropriate approaches to teaching, assessing and evaluating in the Health and Physical learning area from a socially critical perspective.
04. Demonstrate skills in planning, and resource use including physical spaces, to ensure safe, supportive and challenging environments for learning in Health and Physical Education.
