Subject outline

This subject positions children's voice and agency at the heart of curriculum development. S students develop learning opportunities that foster creativity through play, considering the physical environment, relationships and interpretation of National Quality standards and frameworks. Students explore the potential of music, movement, construction, visual art and drama in engaging children in play based learning.

Intended Learning Outcomes

01. Draw on children's engagement in and observations of play to develop opportunities for dramatic and imaginative play, creative approaches to routines and to include children's voices within the curriculum.
02. Design examples of indoor/outdoor play spaces that demonstrate thoughtful selection and placement of equipment and resources while considering children's safety and agency.
03. Analyse and explain the significance of play within early childhood education and its propensity to promote and encourage children's learning and agency in accordance with National Quality standards and frameworks.
