Subject outline

This subject is designed to introduceundergraduate business students from all disciplines to the nature ofaccounting and finance and their role in business. Accountingcovers the recording of financial transactions and reporting on the financialhealth and performance of an individual or business. Finance is concerned withraising the funds required to acquire the assets of a business as well asmanaging the expenditure and investment of these funds. In this subject, youwill learn the ethical requirements underpinning financial statements, how tocompile and interpret financial statements and understand sources of financing.Additionally, you will understand a budget and its importance to the businessas well as the information required to make strategic planning and pricingdecisions all from a non-accountant and non-finance user#s perspective.
