Subject outline
Summer at the NGV is a gallery-based subject that explores and develops an understanding of contemporary and modern art and design directly from the summer exhibitions held at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). While the subject content is embedded within the exhibitions, you will explore key conceptual ideas from various positions and learn about art and social history, visual art practice, philosophy and contemporary social issues, such as race, gender and the environment. In 2021 the main exhibition to be explored will be the NGV's second Triennial, an exhibition bringing together over 100 national and international contemporary artists and designers. The subject is delivered onsite at the NGV (International) and will be taught by NGV curatorial and educational staff and La Trobe University academics from multiple disciplines. THE SUBJECT WILL BE DELIVERED ON THE FOLLOWING DATES: WEEK 1: 3-5 FEBRUARY 2021 / WEEK 2: 10-12 FEBRUARY 2021. (Please note that these dates may alter slightly)
