This subject further develops the students understanding of the diversity of cardiac and respiratory patients. The student has the opportunity to integrate these concepts and skills into practice while on clinical placement in a range of health care facilities. This enables critical thinking, reflection and application of patient assessments and management strategies for the cardiac and respiratory cohort of patients.

01. Determine and perform your roles and responsibilities in paramedic services and other parts of the emergency health system under general supervision
02. Individually and as part of a team, construct and perform comprehensive assessments of patients with a diverse range of cardiac and/or respiratory conditions in a variety of clinical placement settings.
03. Using theoretical knowledge and evidence based practice, justify the out of hospital management of patient conditions of a cardiac or respiratory nature, and apply this management to a range of clinical presentations
04. Individually and as part of a team, manage, monitor and reassess patients with cardiac and respiratory conditions
05. Formulate and articulate a handover of a respiratory and/or cardiac patient, demonstrating the verbal and nonverbal communication skills necessary for competent clinical paramedic practice.
