Subject outline

In this subject students focus on knowledge and skills for effective decision-making in relation to safety, development and stability for vulnerable children. The role of collaboration with, and transparency for, key stakeholders, in decision-making where the child is at risk of harm is emphasised. Evidence driven practice in reaching decisions, decision-making models from contemporary research and evaluating outcomes are emphasised. At completion, participants should be able to identify and examine core assumptions that impact on themselves and others in decision-making processes and have an improved ability for critical enquiry in relation to child welfare decision-making, especially around vulnerability and risk.
