Subject outline

You will appraise and apply criteria of athlete talent identification from theoretical models and practical assessment. You will analyse and compare how athletes are identified in various sports through the key criteria of athlete development. You will be introduced to and discuss the theoretical frameworks and models used to identify talented athletes. Taking a multidisciplinary approach, you will use a variety of assessments for the purpose of identifying talented athletes and their development. You will be introduced to and appraise the potential outcomes of and the justifications for the use of talent identification and development (TID).
