Subject outline
This subject will explore the theory and practice of recovery of function and rehabilitation following brain impairment within the World Health Organisation (WHO) framework of neuropsychological impairment, activity limitation, and participation restriction. Approaches to the rehabilitation and management of the cognitive, behavioural, and emotional consequences of brain impairment will be covered both across the lifespan and across settings from acute to community. Evidence of the effectiveness of interventions and the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork will be critically evaluated. This subject has a strong focus on skill development and adopts a blended learning approach, whereby students will be expected to learn content prior to each lecture, and the class time will be primarily used for skill development. Students will also have the opportunity to apply their skills in the clinical setting, by personally designing and conducting a neuropsychological intervention.
