Subject outline

In this subject, you will explore the skills needed to become critical consumers of research in prosthetics and orthotics. Through both independent and facilitated learning, you will be taught how to apply prior learning of: common research designs, different types of data and measurement scales, statistical tests and interpretation of data from graphs and tables to consume contemporary research in prosthetics and orthotics and make informed judgments about its value and usefulness in clinical practice. The ability to synthesise and communicate the findings of research will also be taught. As critical consumers of prosthetics and orthotics research, students will investigate how to fulfil their responsibilities as providers of evidence based prosthetic and orthotic care, as well as communicate research evidence effectively to a range of stakeholders.
